Ensembles / Groups
Current Ensembles:
American Roots Ensemble Time and day TBD (email us for more info)
Led by Matt Shipman
I call this the American Roots ensemble to leave the repertoire open to the realm of bluegrass, folk, country, and other forms of traditional and contemporary acoustic influenced music. The repertoire is mostly driven by the members of the ensemble. We will focus on how to play music as a group and create arrangements, vocal harmonies, and solos. As the Session progresses, we settle on a group of songs to focus on, and adding more as we go. It's a really fun way to play with a group of people on a regular basis and be involved in a real band!

Past Ensembles:
Waltzing Through Winter Wednesdays 5:00pm-6:00pm
Led by Erica Brown
This class will be geared towards Intermediate/Advanced level players
Waltz’s have long been a favorite of mine, Winters on the other hand have not. My hope is that this class will help us all get through this dark, cold, snowy season. So come join me in my warm, cozy studio and let's waltz our way through winter!
In this class we will learn various waltz’s from the French Canadian, Bluegrass and New England tune vault. In addition to learning the melody, we’ll go over chords and harmony for some of these as well. Tunes will primarily be taught by ear but sheet music will also be available.

Stringband! Wednesdays 6:15pm-7:15pm
Led by Matt Shipman
If you have been playing old time stringband music for a little while on your own and are looking to play with others in a group, this is for you. In this ensemble we will play tunes that you have been working on or are familiar with in a traditional old time group setting and learn some new ones. We welcome intermediate to advanced players on fiddle, banjo, guitar, accordion, mandolin, cello and bass. This is a fun way to jam with others, play your tunes and learn more, and meet other folks in the community.
